Safety & Handling Guide:
1. General Handling Recommendations
- Always lift and move rolls carefully — avoid dragging on rough or abrasive surfaces.
- Cut insulation using clean utility blades or shears; use a firm, flat surface for stability.
- Roll edges may be sharp due to foil — wear gloves to avoid minor abrasions.
- Use knee pads or mats when working on large insulation areas for extended time.
2. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Gloves: Recommended for roll handling and trimming.
- Safety Eyewear: When using cutting tools or working above shoulder height.
- Protective Clothing: Optional — no glass fibers or irritants present.
- Footwear: Safety shoes for warehouse or rooftop installation.
3. Installation Surface Requirements
- Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and dust-free before applying.
- Avoid installation in direct rainfall, saturated areas, or windy rooftop conditions.
- Use appropriate fasteners (e.g. foil tape, staple guns, adhesive, double-sided construction tape).
4. Storage & On-Site Safety
- Store rolls in a cool, dry, covered area.
- Do not expose to direct UV sunlight for extended periods prior to installation.
- Avoid placing heavy objects on top of stored rolls — may cause deformation or edge crushing.
- Ensure materials are secured on jobsite to prevent wind uplift.
5. Fire Safety
- SmartBuild™ Foam and Bubble Foam Barriers are Class A fire rated (ASTM E84) under controlled test conditions.
- Do not expose directly to open flame, welding sparks, or uncontrolled high heat sources.
- Not intended for use in fire-rated wall assemblies unless tested with that system.
6. Vapor & Moisture Behavior
- These products are solid vapor barriers — not breathable.
- Do not use in applications where inward drying or permeability is required.
- Always verify compatibility with local building codes and climate zone requirements.
