Silt Fence

Smart Protection Against Erosion, Runoff, and Regulatory Non-Compliance.

SmartBuild™ Silt Fence is a construction-grade woven fabric barrier designed for temporary sediment control, runoff management, and site perimeter protection in compliance with erosion control regulations.

Available in two variants — Standard and Pro — these silt fences are engineered for durability, water flow performance, and jobsite reliability. Manufactured from UV-stabilized woven polyolefin fabric, they can be supplied with or without pre-attached wooden stakes, and are fully customizable for private-label programs.

Manufactured by Shish Industries Limited,
an ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 Certified Manufacturer,

The industries we serve

Construction Perimeters

Used around construction sites to contain sediment and prevent soil runoff.

Sediment Trap Zones

Installed in low-lying areas to collect and filter sediment-laden water.

Roadside Erosion Control

Deployed along road edges to prevent erosion and stabilize embankments.

Slope Runoff Prevention

Controls water flow and reduces runoff on inclined terrains and hillsides.

Land Clearing & Grading

Supports soil stabilization and sediment control during land development activities.

Sediment Retention Near Water Bodies

Placed near rivers, lakes, and wetlands to protect water quality during construction.

Silt Fence – Standard

  • Lightweight fabric ideal for short-term or low-traffic projects
  • Compatible with manual installation and rural applications
  • Best for low slope or small footprint jobsite

Silt Fence – Pro

  • Heavier-weight fabric with higher tensile and puncture strength

Installation Instructions:

1. Trench & Backfill (Standard Practice – Required by Most Regulations)

  • Dig a trench 6 inches deep × 6 inches wide along the entire line of installation.
  • Position the bottom 6 inches of the fabric into the trench, laying it against the soil side.
  • Backfill the trench with excavated soil and compact gently to secure.
  • Drive stakes or posts every 6–10 feet (Standard) or 6–8 feet (Pro) and fasten the fabric.

2. Staple-on Surface (Temporary or Flat Ground Use Only)

  • Lay silt fence flat on soil surface.
  • Secure the bottom edge using U-pins, rebar anchors, or heavy-duty staples.
  • Overlap rolls by 12 inches and staple through both layers.
  • Not recommended for slopes, runoff areas, or storm drains.

3. Fastening & Post Details

  • Use 1.5” x 1.5” hardwood stakes, minimum 36”–42” height
  • Embed posts at least 12” into ground
  • Secure fabric to stakes using staples, nails with washers, or zip ties
  • For Pro variant or high-load zones, use steel

4. Overlap & Joint Sealing

  • Overlap adjoining rolls by 12–18 inches
  • Do not splice fabric directly over slope breaks or flow channels
  • Always start new runs upslope from termination of the previous one

5. Inspection & Maintenance

  • Check after heavy rains, daily site entry/exit
  • Repair tears or fallen posts immediately
  • Remove accumulated sediment when it reaches 1/3 the fence height
  • Remove fabric at end of construction or as per SWPPP directive
