Weed Control Fabric

Engineered for Drainage, Soil Separation, and Sustainable Site Management

SmartBuild™ Weed Control Fabric is a high-strength woven polyolefin fabric designed for long-lasting weed suppression, moisture flow, and erosion control in landscaping, agriculture, and civil site prep applications.

Constructed from non-laminated woven polyolefin, this fabric allows water and nutrients to pass through while blocking sunlight to prevent unwanted weed growth. It installs quickly with stakes or staples, resists UV degradation, and is suitable for use under mulch, gravel, turf, or in open soil.

Manufactured by Shish Industries Limited,
an ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 Certified Manufacturer,
SmartBuild™ Weed Control Fabric is available in standard formats or custom roll dimensions and GSMs for private-label clients.

Installation Guide

SmartBuild™ Weed Control Fabric

(90 GSM – Non-Laminated Woven Polyolefin)

Professional Installation for Long-Term Weed Suppression and Soil Protection

Site Preparation

Clear the installation area of existing weeds, sharp debris, and organic material.

Level the soil or gravel bed if necessary to ensure even contact with the fabric.

For sloped areas, lightly compact the soil to prevent undermining or sliding.

Tools Required

Utility knife or scissors

Measuring tape

Landscape staples or anchor pins

Staple mallet or small sledgehammer

Marking chalk or string line (for long beds or rows)

Installation Instructions:

1. Positioning

  • Unroll SmartBuild™ Weed Control Fabric directly over the prepared ground.
  • Place the fabric with the printed/branded side (if any) facing upward.

2. Cutting to Fit

  • Cut the fabric using a sharp knife or scissors to match landscape contours or around fixed objects (trees, poles, valves, etc.).

3. Securing the Fabric

  • Use landscape staples or anchor pins every 1 to 2 feet along the edges.
  • For central areas, place a staple every 3 to 4 feet to prevent shifting.
  • For sloped ground or high-wind zones, increase staple frequency.

4. Seams and Overlaps

  • Overlap adjacent rolls by 6 to 12 inches, depending on the application.
  • For heavy-duty erosion zones or beneath stone, use up to 12-inch overlap and staple through both layers.
  • Avoid leaving gaps — fabric should be tight, wrinkle-free, and smoothly anchored.

5. Finishing

  • Cover the installed fabric with mulch, decorative gravel, bark chips, or soil as needed.
  • Apply 2–3 inches of mulch for best performance and UV protection

🌱 Special Use Instructions

  • For garden rows or vegetable beds: Cut “X” or slit openings where plants will grow. Fold back the corners and pin them down.
  • For pathways or driveways: Ensure full surface coverage with overlapped seams and reinforce with gravel or compacted base layers.

🔧 Maintenance Tips

  • Inspect fabric edges annually for exposure or lifting due to soil erosion or freeze-thaw cycles.
  • Re-anchor or replace small exposed sections as needed.
  • Fabric life may extend 5–10 years under mulch or covered conditions.
